World multipolarization,economic globalization and social informatization are the biggest characteristics of the 21st century.Global villages are emerging,international exchanges are more frequent and the characteristics of the community of human destiny are more prominent,making it more important than ever to strengthen international understanding among nations as well as their people.At present,under the leadership of UNESCO,the research on the theory of Education for International Understanding is actively promoted by all countries,as well as its practice.The overall framework of "Key Competence of Chinese Student' Development" clearly suggests that the promotion of students' international understanding competence should be strengthened through school education.The English Curriculum Standard of General Senior High School(2017 Edition)points out that the General Senior High School English Curriculum is both instrumental and humanistic,which goal is to cultivate socialist builders and successors with multiculturalism and human destiny community consciousness.It can be seen that school education is an important place to permeate the spirit of Education for International Understanding,and English curriculum in senior high school is an effective way to cultivate students' international understanding competence.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the English reading teaching in senior high school which points to international understanding competence.This research mainly adopts the literature method,the content analysis method,the observation method and the interview method to discuss English reading teaching in the senior high school that points to student's international understanding competence from the aspects of the formation mechanism,teaching objectives,teaching content and teaching process.Specifically,first of all,this study combs the domestic and foreign related research through the literature review,clarifies the related concept,grasp the objectives and content of Education for International Understanding and construct a knowledge system of international understanding which is suitable for this study.Secondly,using the content analysis method,through the analysis of the curriculum standards and other guiding documents to explore the high school English reading teaching goals pointing to international understanding competence,and then combining with the international understanding education content framework to analyze the compulsory section of the new senior high school English teaching materials,mining the international understanding knowledge contained in the teaching materials.Thirdly,combining the accumulated materials of classroom observation and teacher interview,this paper discusses the formation process of students' international understanding competence and its combination path with English reading teaching in senior high school,so as to effectively carry out senior high school English reading teaching pointing to international understanding competence.Finally,the conclusions and suggestions of this study are drawn,that is,cultivating students' international understanding competence is one of the goals of senior high school English curriculum;textbooks are an effective carrier of education for international understanding resources;and high school English reading teaching can be combined with education for international understanding organically.Therefore,it is suggested that English reading teaching in the senior high school should fully excavate the teaching materials,integrate education for international understanding resources;grasp the teaching emphasis,arrange the international understanding knowledge reasonably;take students as the center of English teaching and learning,carry out activity view in the senior high school English teaching.
