| Promoting the integration of urban-rural education is of great significance to the overall development of education.The book,Research on the System Change of China’s Urban-rural Education Relationship,reveals the pattern of the system change of China’s urban-rural education relationship,offering insights for the integrated construction of the urban-rural education.Several crucial parts of the book are selected for Chinese-English translation and a report is written,with an attempt to discuss ways to translate research papers on education system,and introduce China’s system of urban-rural education relationship to foreigners,contributing to exchange and cooperation between China and other countries.Five parts in the report are comprised of introduction,task description,process description,case analysis and conclusion.In the case analysis,the translator analyzes translation difficulties of the source text at the lexical,syntactical and textual levels,complies with the functional skopos theory and employs various translation methods to make the target text more readable.At the lexical level,the translator adopts literal translation,annotation and other translation methods to deal with education-related nouns and four-character structures;at the syntactical level,adding subjects and changing voices are two means of translating subjectless sentences,and separate constructions and division are major ways for the translation of long sentences with multiple verbs;at the textual level,the translator makes use of cohesive devices,that is,using reference and substitution to avoid reiterative expressions in Chinese and adding conjunctions and combining sentences to clearly show the implicit logical relations among sentences.After completing the translation report,the translator has learned more about China’s system of urban-rural education relationship,and has realized that accurate background information and continued improvement of translation abilities are essential in translation process.It is hoped that the report can provide some reference for the translation of other research papers on education systems. |
