Report On The Translation Of American Health Insurance Plan For Individuals And Families(2016)

Medical problem has been a popular issue in modern society while medical security has been closely related to public's interests.In recent years,the heat of translation in medical fields is on the rise.These translation studies not only expand translation practice vertically and horizontally,but also enrich the background information of medical ground at home and abroad.However,due to the differences of country condition and culture between China and America,medical insurance system and content also have big differences accordingly which highlights the importance of medical insurance translation.Therefore,it is the primary goal of this report to have a clear and accurate translation in accordance with the medical language norms.The main difficulties in this paper are translation of terminology,words and phrases,long and difficult sentences and the overall grasp of the text.Thus,included in the paper are text feature analysis,translation background collection and translation purpose introduction.Then,after the preparing steps,by analyzing translation units like words,phrases,sentences and text,with the combination of translation process,methods of medical insurance translation are concluded according to text language function theory from Katharina Reis and Peter Newmark.Since this text is an informative text,and there are various ways to convey information,the translator uses multivariate translation methods such as conversion,extension and concretization,amplification,passive voice changing into active voice and separation and integration according to the specific situation.At last,shown in this paper are limitations,inadequacies and experience of translation practice which can lay the translation foundation in this field.
