This report is a C-E translation report with its source text The 13th Five-year Development Plan of HNUBS(Business School of Hunan University).It mainly introduces the development environment,development goal and construction task of the Business School,which has a great significance in promoting the level of construction.It belongs to college planning text and it is new and unique.Therefore,the author of the report tried to translate it and carried out research on its characteristics and translation methods.In the process of translation,the author found that the source text is featured by rigorous structures,the frequent use of long sentences and expressions with Chinese characteristics.Domestic studies on the translation of planning text mainly focus on culture,industry and economic development and they are quite limited both in terms of quantity and quality.In the light of Text Typology Theory,the author of the report firstly analyzes the characteristics of the source text and sums up the major difficulties during the translation at lexical level and syntactic level,namely,category words,redundant words,long and difficult sentences and no-subject sentences.In order to address these issues,the author adopts corresponding translation methods including amplification,omission,and conversion at lexical level as well as combination of sentences,division of sentences,addition of subject and conversion of voice at syntactic level.The present report shows that the planning text is characterized by rigorous content and it aims to convey the planning information so that the target readers can easily grasp it.Therefore,the translators firstly should comprehend and analyze the source text deeply and adopt proper translation methods according to the corresponding theory so that the translation is more acceptable and comprehensible for the target readers.
