The source texts in this translation report are from the fourth chapter of the work Improving the Tax System amid the Rule-of-Law China(????????????????)which deals with applied economics.Also,the translation variation theory is adopted in the report to meet the specific needs of the target readers.It allows the translator to make appropriate modifications of the source texts employing techniques of addition,deletion,edition,narration,condensation,combination adaptation,and imitation.They are conducive to improving the quality of economic translation,which provides target readers with the original information efficiently.Thus,this translation report expounds the applicability of the theory in translating economic texts with three commonly used strategies,providing an effective reference for similar texts.This translation report consists of four chapters.The first chapter mainly introduces the context and significance of the translation project.It also explains the preparation process of the project and the layout of this report.In the second chapter,relevant literature is reviewed with regards to the previous studies of economic translation home and abroad.Besides,the applicability of translation variation theory in economic translation is discussed with the theoretical framework of the theory provided.The third chapter is the case study where the three most commonly used strategies are adopted in the translation variation theory at lexical,syntactic,and textual levels respectively.And the last chapter is an overall conclusion,including the summary of the translation practice,limitations and corresponding implications as well as the further suggestions.
