A Practice Report On C-E Web-Translation In Light Of Translation Variation Theory

Benefiting from China's ascending international status and robust economic improvement,China's education industry is enjoying a favorable environment and flourishing amid fierce competition.With official website being an important part for a company's promotion and image establishment,proficient and accurate English version of company profiling has become a pressing requirement for education service providers to expand and thrive.Faced with this ever-growing translation demand,the quality of C-E translation needs to be enhanced substantially.This report,based on the C-E translation experience on the official website of China BestStudy Education Co.,Ltd.(CBEC),a translation project assigned by EC Innovations Inc.,tries to solve translation problems encountered during translation process under the guidance of Translation Variation Theory(TVT).On the basis of exhaustive analysis over the stylistic features and functions of source text,the paper extracted three translation problems from each web module respectively,namely,classical Chinese poetry translation from “CSR” module,slogan translation from “Our Business” module and information dissemination from “About Us” module,after which corresponding solutions like addition,combination,imitation,adaptation,translation and report as well as edited translation were proposed under the guidance of Translation Variation Theory.It is hoped that this report will provide references for translating texts in the same field,thus improving the quality and efficiency of translation tasks.
