The development and innovation of reading has always been the power source of English teaching reform, which plays an important role in improving English learners' language capacity, cultural awareness, thinking quality and learning capacity.Wang Qiang,Chen Zehang and their team put forward the goal of English reading literacy, which is composed of reading ability and reading character. The development goal of English reading literacy and the education value of the core literacy of English Curriculum Standard(2017 Edition)complement each other, thus developing into a hot topic in the field of English education research. However,in the quantitative research, there are only a few researches on senior high school students' English reading literacy and reading level. Therefore,it is necessary to explore the correlation between senior high school students' English reading literacy and reading achievement,so as to enrich and develop the research field. This study, based on the overall development goal of English reading literacy and the requirements of six dimensions, adopts the quantitative and qualitative research methods and investigates 209 senior high school students in the Affiliated Middle School of Huaibei Normal University. The research uses spss19.0 statistical software to analyze the data of the questionnaire, including descriptive analysis,Pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. At the same time, the study deeply analyzed the current situation of high school students' English reading literacy and reading level and their correlations. This study analyzes the following problems:(1)What is the level of senior high school students' English reading literacy and reading performance?(2)What is the correlation between the overall and all dimensions of senior high school students' English reading literacy and their reading performance? What is the correlation between the overall and all dimensions of senior high school students' English reading literacy and their reading performance in different genders?(3)How does each dimension of senior high school students' English reading literacy predict their reading performance? The results indicates that:(1)Senior high school students' English reading literacy and reading level are at an average level on the whole.Among them, the development of English reading literacy is uneven, and cultural awareness, reading habits and reading experience are less concerned in reading.(2)Senior high school students' English reading literacy is positively correlated with reading performance as a whole, and the correlation between reading ability and reading performance is better than that of reading character. There is a positive correlation between each dimension and reading performance. The degree of relevance is in order of language knowledge, reading comprehension, decoding ability, reading experience, and cultural awareness, but reading habits and reading performance are low correlation. In addition, the study also found that there are different levels of correlation between different genders. The overall correlation and all dimensions of boys are greater than that of girls.(3)There is an imbalance in the correlation between the development of each dimension of English reading literacy and reading achievement, among which language knowledge, reading comprehension and decoding ability can predict reading achievement.Based on this, this study puts forward relevant suggestions for teaching based on the development goal of English reading literacy. It aims to improve the balanced development of high school students' English reading literacy,so that students can improve their reading ability while forming a good awareness of national identity and humanistic literacy, and shape the necessary character.
