The position of reading in English teaching is self-evident.Reading is an important way for students to deal with information,understand the world and experience aesthetics.English reading is the basis of developing students' language ability.It can not only cultivate students' sense of English,but also promote their vocabulary accumulation and improve their writing level,which is the main means and effective method to learn English well.In recent years,experts and scholars have shifted their focus from reading ability to reading literacy.In senior high school,the present situation of students' English reading literacy and the ways to cultivate high school students' English reading literacy have become a key research topic for senior high school English teachers.Professor Wang Qiang of Beijing normal University put forward a detailed definition of English reading literacy,which is also the most valuable definition in China.Based on the connotation of English reading literacy and the theoretical framework of English reading literacy development goal put forward by Professor Wang Qiang(2015),and on the basis of other scholars' research results on reading literacy.This paper discusses the present situation and training strategies of high school students' English reading literacy,and puts forward some suggestions for the cultivation of high school students' English reading literacy.Based on the example of Right-Wing Middle Flag X high school in my hometown,the author investigates the present situation of high school students' English reading literacy,and tries to solve the following problems through investigation and research:(1)What is the current situation of high school students' English reading literacy?(2)The causes of the current situation of English reading literacy in high school students?The five English teachers and 159 students in Right-Wing Middle Flag X high school were selected as the research objects,and the questionnaire survey method and interview method were used to study.The student's survey results show that the main problems in reading literacy of senior high school students are: the cultivation of students' reading comprehension,language knowledge and decoding ability presents a good situation.However,students' cultural consciousness and reading experience are weak,and the most important thing is that teachers have no correct guidance on students' reading habits.The teacher's interview results show that high school English teachers also have some problems,such as no detailed understanding of the concept of reading literacy.Most teachers affirm the importance of reading literacy,but ignore the development of reading literacy in practical teaching.Through questionnaires and interviews,English teachers should apply reading literacy theory to reading teaching practice.Through reading teaching,effectively cultivate high school students' reading literacy.Based on this,this study puts forward suggestions for reading teaching based on the framework of English reading literacy,in order to improve the balanced development of high school students' English reading literacy,and then promote students to form good humanistic literacy and family feelings while improving their reading ability,and then create the necessary literacy.
