The conjunction words Er and Erqie are commonly used as a group of function word in modern Chinese.They not only are key and difficult points for modern Chinese grammar teaching,but also are important and challenging to international students who are learning Chinese.For international students,it is not easy for them to use Er and Erqie correctly.To date,most research about Er and Erqie has focused on the ontology of Er and Erqie,with very few studies paying attention to these two words in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language.Research that studies Er and Erqie in TCSL only explore Er and Erqie separately or compare them from single aspect.Thus,there is currently no comprehensive research available about errors that international students make when using Er and Erqie.Under the guide of three plane theory,error analysis theory and interlanguage theory,this paper will compare and analyze conjunction words Er and Erqie from syntax,semantic meaning and pragmatics aspects by collecting and analyzing corpus.The aim of present study is to explore the types and reasons of errors that international students make when using Er and Erqie.The findings will provide some suggestions to Chinese language learners,teachers as well as textbook compilers.Besides,a teaching scheme will be designed for how to use Er and Erqie appropriately in this paper.This paper starts with rationale,impacts,objects and corpus resources of the present research,followed by research methods,theories and literature review of current studies on Er and Erqie and Teaching Chinese as a Second Language.Then this paper will suggest the limitations of previous research,based on which the innovation of this study will be proposed.Then this paper analyzes and compares Er and Erqie from three aspects-syntax,semantic meaning and pragmatics aspects by using method of comparative analysis as well as summarize how they reflect in the textbooks.According to what have discussed above,theory of error analysis and analysis of the corpus,there are three types of errors about Er and Erqie:Overrepresentation,Addition and Omission.In addition,the reasons that why theseerrors happen when international students learning Er and Erqie are explored from negative transfer of native language,over-generalization,textbook compilation and teaching aspects.Finally,based on error type and error reason,this paper provides some suggestions on teaching Er and Erqie in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language and designs a TCSL scheme targeting at Er and Erqie.
