Research On Painting Style Of The Nabi

The Nabis is a modern art school founded by students of the French Julian Academy of Fine Arts at the end of the nineteenth century.The main members are Denis,Serusier,Vuillard,Bonnard and others.The symbolism style of the the Nabis painters is actually a rebellion against the Impressionists,opposed to the visual reproduction of the reality by Impressionism,which is reflected in the transformation of nature to express the painter's subjective emotions.During the period of Nabi painters,European artists were generally very interested in Japanese ukiyo-e.In addition to Vuillard,there are some decorative means from the family's textile patterns and Arabic patterns of others.Most of them are presents a flat decoration style of Japanese ukiyo-e.In addition,the Nabis has a high degree of eclecticism,showing a "refined" fusion of traditional style.The "STUDIO" oil painting series are based on the history and related theoretical research of the formation and development of the Nabis,and absorbs the creative practice of using the symbol and decoration style of the Nabis.In this creation,I also dialectically reflect on the problems caused by eclecticism.Today's audience has a much more open view of artworks than a hundred years ago,and the Nabis is not so "modern" now,so contemporary works are not necessary to cater to the general public's aesthetic,the current learning from the Nabis may itself be a compromise of "refining" the traditional style.The"STUDIO" are on the basis of symbolism,decorative and the tribute element representing the painters.The display mode presents more modernity by using the unique symbols of the "studio",interlacing time and space and exhibiting these twelve paintings with two rows and six columns.
