Discussion On Female Images In Su Tong's Novel

Su Tong is a talented contemporary writer,who has published nearly fourmillion words since his creation in the 1980 s.In 1987,Su Tong gained fame inthe literary world by publishing "Escape in 1934" in Harvest magazine.His novelnarrative style and narrative language are unique,and he has become one of therepresentative works of Avant-garde Fiction and one of the leading figures ofAvant-garde Fiction along with Hong Feng and Ge Fei.In 1991,the publication ofMi,the first novel,caused quite a stir in the literary world.Riverside and TheYellow Sparrow were awarded the Man Asian Literary Prize and the Mao DunPrize for Literature respectively.Women have always been the focus of writers,they are an indispensable part of the content and meaning of life,and Su Tong isrecognized as one of the best male writers in contemporary literature who aregood at describing women's psychology.In his view,"more novel factors arecondensed in women",so in his numerous literary works,female images occupya large number of space,so they are called.It is the "pink killer" and the "sagehand" of women.The female images created by Su Tong's novels have beenwidely concerned by scholars since the 1980 s.From the humanistic concern forfemale images to the feminist research,the connotation of the novel has beendeeply excavated.Today,the research is still hot.Based on the existing research results,this paper will take the femalecharacters in Su Tong's novels as the breakthrough point to show Su Tong'sdifferent understanding of women in different periods and different styles ofliterature in an all-round and meticulous way.The full text is divided into threeparts: introduction,body and conclusion.The thesis' s introduction part gives a brief overview of the current researchstatus of Su Tong's novels,and clarifies the reasons for the topic selection andresearch content.The first chapter classifies the female images in Su Tong's novels.AccordingAbstract to their different characteristics,they are classified as losers,moneyworshippers,breakthroughs,sufferers and market goats.The classical imagesare analyzed concretely.Chapter two analyses the women's life state in Su Tong's novel,which isembodied by the women's living condition under the domination of male powerand the women's living consciousness under the domination of male power.The third chapter mainly studies the reasons for the formation of femaleimages in Su Tong's novels.It discusses the influence of Jiangnan culture and thewriter's personal life experience and cultural memory in order to explore thefemale images in Su Tong's novels.The concluding part gives a brief summary of the whole paper.
