A male contemporary writer famous between 1980s and 1990s, Su Tong was attached importance by the critic world for his successful portrayal of females in his writings, which quickly became the focus of study. As people haven't rated these females profoundly on the whole, the present dissertation attempts to focus on that.The present research is carried out in two parts:Firstly, the research aims to disclose the transcendence and delaying phenomenon of his female images by means of Su Tong's humane concern towards women on the realistic aspect as well as his alien portrayal of female images. Su Tong tried to probe and think about the lives of women in an active way, whose writings were full of his humane concern towards women. His thinking angle in his writings changed, overturned and eliminated the way many contemporary male writers created traditional women, traditional prostitutes and maternal mythology depending on grand portrayal and spreading males as the main part. Su Tong's calm criticism of the human weaknesses of women catered to the thinking modes of contemporary writings about females, which displayed his transcendence in creating female images. However, due to the fact that Su Tong's concern towards women was limited to the realistic aspect and the monotony of his appreciation of the ugliness, his delaying phenomenon of portrayal of female images arose. Thus it was possible for him to reveal his consciousness that man was superior to women.Secondly, the research aims to disclose Su Tong's entangled mind that man was superior to women.
