The thesis makes a comprehensive and systematic study on the functions of particle le in Lanxian dialect through utilizing Interactional Linguistics and collected data,so as to explain the deeper relationship between these functions and then provide a new understanding for particles theoretically. As one of the most important function words in mandarin Chinese, particle le is complicated in usage, let alone le in Lanxian dialect. Thus, how to describe and analyze them accurately and further more explain the relationship between each functions have become extremely difficult. Therefore, the current study tries to solve these problems based on the assumption of Interactional Linguistics that the meaning and functions of language are uncertain and interactively constructed by interlocutors in talk-in-interaction.The study reveals that there are three types of particle le in Lanxian dialect, namely le1,le2 and le3.Under the guidance of Interactional Linguistics, the result shows two functions on the whole:grammatical function and pragmatic function.Grammatically, the study presents that both le1 and le2 can mark perfective aspect,le2marks progressive aspect and le3 marks future perfective aspect.Pragmatically, particle le has three functions as turn organization marker, attitude marker and separating-stance token.Among them,le2 can help an interlocutor respond and yield a turn, and le3 can be used as a filler in turn-holding.Meanwhile,speakers'attitudes,such as surprise and disapproval, are showed through le2.Furthermore,since it shows speakers'disapproval on the whole,le2 is also a separating stance token.Le3 can also be used to show different stance. Therefore, the whole study shows that functions of le in Lanxian dialect are not preset but emerge constantly in talk-in-interaction and each of them are interactive and closely related, which can affect context in reverse. What's more, particles are actually a linguistic mode which interlocutors can choose to achieve certain communicative goal in interaction.
