The sentence pattern 'yi(?)……jiu(?)……'is a common compound sentence structure in modern Chinese which is an elementary grammatical item.However,in actual teaching process,it is found that overseas students at intermediate or advanced level could still make mistakes in the use of this pattern.Therefore,in this paper,we attempt to compare the usage of this sentence pattern by native speakers with CSL(Chinese as a second language)learners,and try to find out whether there are different focuses on the use of the two,and the reasons behind it.Then put forward by make practical teaching suggestions to improve the accuracy of CSL learners when using the sentence pattern.We collected and analyzed 500 spoken corpora of native speakers,and found that in daily conversations during 2006?2018,the frequency of the conditional relation has been higher than that of the following relation,which is different from previous research results which were based on written corpora.The cause for that is the conditional relation of 'yi(?)……jiu(?)…… pattern can maximize the effect of discourse,which means it can express the logical relation between actions and events,along with express the urgency of time,and has characteristic of spoken language as well.So,the conditional relation is increasingly used in daily conversations.Through the analysis of 500 corpora of CSL learners,it is found that compared to the other two semantic relations,CSL learners are the most acquainted with the following relations;and the most commonly used conditional relations among native speakers are not very frequently used in CSL learners.Through the analysis of CSL learners' corpus errors,it is found that in terms of 'yi(?)……jiu(?)…… pattern,the highest incidence of errors are the missing subject,the missing associated word 'jiu the wrong order,and the wrongly added subject.Based on the above conclusions,we offered some practical teaching suggestions about'yi(?)……jiu(?)……' pattern(the following relation and the conditional relation)to elementary Chinese language class.This instructional design aims to review the following relation that have been learned and expand new knowledge about conditional relation.Different from conventional language points teaching methods,we adopt the form of'guessing-inferring-discussing'.Whether it is summing up the characteristics of the sentence or distinguishing the semantic relations,it is completed by the students through group discussion.The teacher is in a position of guidance and assistance.We hope to draw attention to the use of the conditional relation of this sentence pattern and to continuously improve the grammar teaching in CSL class.
