Many studies have found that academic procrastination may have a negative impact on students’ academic performance,including academic performance and academic achievement.In addition,the negative impact of academic procrastination on students’ mental health has also been confirmed by many studies.Therefore,the study of Academic Procrastination of Freshmen in senior high school can help students get rid of the difficulty of entering school and establish a good attitude towards study and life.Previous studies have confirmed that factors related to time planning have an important impact on academic procrastination,including time management orientation and future time insight,which can effectively predict students’ academic procrastination.Therefore,this study speculates that future outcomes are expected to significantly predict academic procrastination.Previous studies have also found that the perceptual control of future time is also affected by other factors,among which the more important factor is the individual’s perception and pursuit of their own or the meaning of life.Many studies have confirmed that individuals pursuing meaningful goals pay more attention to the future,and the focus tends to be positive.Therefore,this study speculates that the meaning of life will significantly affect the individual’s future outcome expectations.However,the above assumptions are only based on existing research and theory,and have not yet been supported by empirical research.Therefore,this study uses quantitative research methods to verify the above inferences.Furthermore,the relationship between the two implies that there may be mediating effects.Therefore,this study uses path analysis and structural equation model to verify the mediating effect of future outcomes expectation between life meaning and academic procrastination.Finally,we try to validate the differences between boys and girls by using multiple structural equation models.To sum up,this study is convenient to select five high schools in Guizhou Province for investigation,the subjects of which are freshmen of high school.The results show that:(1)there is no significant difference in gender and staying experience among the high school freshmen in academic procrastination,expectation of future results and meaning of life;(2)there is a significant relationship among academic procrastination,expectation of future results and meaning of life among the high school freshmen.(3)Future outcomes are expected to play a fully mediating role between life meaning and academic procrastination.(4)The intermediary effect between life meaning and academic procrastination is expected to be stable for both boys and girls.
