At the end of the Qing dynasty, films were introduced into China from the west, and gradually developed into one of the indispensable entertainment activities in the cities of the Republic of China from the obscure street "variety show" at the beginning. With the continuous development of the film industry in the republic of China, there appeared a group of people who had a persistent love for film. They are different from the average moviegoer and are no longer satisfied with being bystanders of the film.In their own way, they establish an off-screen connection with the film, and they are often referred to as "fans".As a new group in modern Chinese society, the emergence of fans is closely related to the development of Chinese film industry. In this paper, the introduction of western films and the development of Chinese film industry are briefly summarized, and the formation of film entertainment culture and star system in the Republic of China is emphatically discussed, which lays a foundation for the generation of fans in the following part.Secondly,it traces and analyzes the formation and constitution of fans.In fasthe process of its formation, fans experienced the rivalry with opera fans, and the further development of the film industry in the Republic of China, began to have a certain scale, and often as "fans" in the newspaper. With the continuous expansion of the fan group, its composition is gradually diversified. There is a certain convergence and complementarity between the gender of fans and that of stars, while the age and education of fans are closely related to the choice of film types.Generally speaking, fans of similar age and education have similar demands in the choice and quality of film types. In addition, the "rotation screening system" implemented in the period of the Republic of China basically corresponded to the upper, middle and lower social classes one by one.The price of ticket determines the number of movie viewing rounds and the quality of movie viewing facilities, which is essentially the reflection of social stratification in film consumption.Thirdly, the interaction between fans and stars and movies is divided into two types. One is the "star fans" who have the characteristics of idolatry, take the star as the standard, and are often accompanied by the psychology of infatuation and desire projection. The other is the "film fans",who always pay attention to the development and quality of films from all aspects. The former is the product of the development of star system and the main audience of film consumption. The latter are more engaged in the film industry or film-related work, for the development of Chinese film made a contribution. Finally, the relationship between media and fans are explained. From the perspective of the prosperity of the film industry, whether "star fans" or "film fans",their existence and quantity are crucial. However, some excessively fanatical "star fans" still became the main target of criticism by the media and public opinions in the Republic of China period. At that time, people expected to create their ideal "pure fans" through the discipline of various film publications, that is,"never keen on the beauty of a star",but only focus on the quality of the film fans. But in fact, the media issued a message urging fans not to obsess too much about the stars at the same time;At the same time,it tries hard to cater to fans' voyeuristic desire for stars, and reports the private lives of stars and the public address of stars, which provides convenience for a large number of "star fans" to pursue stars. As a result, the number of such blind "starchatters" becomes more and more.Even though influenced by the war, they cannot completely stop their enthusiasm for stars.
