| At present,mind mapping has been widely used in writing teaching.As a new kind of writing teaching AIDS,mind mapping has brought a revolution to the English writing class in senior high school.Can it really effectively stimulate students’ writing thinking,as well as promote the effective development of students’ English writing ability and English language accomplishment? The situation of its application in senior high school writing teaching deserves further investigation and research.In this study,206 high school teachers in Zhenjiang were selected as the subjects of the questionnaire survey,and 6 English teachers were randomly selected as the subjects of the interview.This study investigates from five dimensions: cognitive situation,purpose of use,content of use,method of use and effect of use,in order to know the application status of mind mapping in English writing teaching in senior high school.In terms of cognition,English teachers have high recognition for the application of mind map in writing teaching.They know flowchart and frame diagram best,and nearly half of them are familiar with the operation process of mind map.In terms of using purpose,teachers pay more attention to the role of mind map in improving students’ ability to process information.Mind map is an important way to promote teachers to improve teaching methods.Teachers pay more attention to the role of mind map in mobilizing students’ enthusiasm.In terms of using content,female teachers who have been teaching for 21-30 years have a stronger awareness of using the mind map.The most frequently used mind map composition model is brainstorm map and hierarchical structure map.Teachers like to draw mind maps on the blackboard best.In terms of usage,English teachers do not frequently use mind mapping in writing teaching.What’s more,the way teachers use mind mapping focuses on hand drawing.They mostly adopt the mode of self-exploration and presentation in writing teaching,and teachers are also keen on applying mind mapping in writing pre-writing.In terms of use satisfaction,English teachers are satisfied with the flexibility of the mode of mind mapping in writing teaching,the role of mind mapping in improving students’ writing ability,and the role of mind mapping in activating the classroom atmosphere,but they are not satisfied with the effect of mind mapping in improving their teaching ability.This paper makes an in-depth analysis of the current situation of the application ofmind mapping in writing teaching from five dimensions,including cognitive situation,purpose of use,content of use,mode of use and effect of use.First of all,in terms of cognition,mind map plays a great role in helping teachers with writing teaching.The use of mind map reflects teachers’ different ways of thinking.Teachers’ weak information literacy hinders the further development of mind map.Secondly,in terms of the purpose of use,teachers hope to better cultivate the writing ability of high school students.Teachers have the tendency and consciousness to promote the reform of writing teaching methods.The new curriculum standard requires teachers to pay attention to cultivating students’ writing thinking.Secondly,in terms of using content,there is a correlation between teachers’ professional development stage and their consciousness of applying mind mapping.Information media platforms encourage teachers to use common mind mapping methods in writing teaching.The lack of systematic training hinders the establishment of mind mapping writing teaching mode.Then,in terms of the way of use,the lack of incentive mechanism affects the frequency of the use of mind map in writing teaching,the insufficient promotion strength hinders the large-scale use of mind map,and the weak support of school information hinders the use of mind map software.Finally,in terms of application effect,mind map satisfies the requirements of teacher-student interaction in writing teaching,and mind map satisfies the requirements of the new curriculum standard on students’ writing ability.However,the education under the pressure of entering the university affects teachers’ satisfaction with the application of mind map.In order to promote the use of mind mapping in English writing teaching at senior high schools,schools should first strengthen the construction of mind mapping system.The school should provide the software equipment needed for the teaching of mind map writing,improve the evaluation system of the application of mind map in writing teaching,and strengthen the training of mind map for teachers.Secondly,the teacher community of mind mapping application research can be built.This can be achieved mainly by incorporating the applied research content of mind mapping in writing teaching into the tasks of the teacher’s studio,establishing a professional research team of mind mapping and creating a good atmosphere for mind mapping research.Finally,the teaching platform construction of mind map writing can be strengthened.We can set up an interactive platform for communication between teachers and students,a platform for inter-school communication and cooperation,and a platform for regional cooperation in the teaching writing with the help of mind map. |
