Acupuncture-moxibustion therapy is a set of medical methods to prevent and treat diseases under the guidance of Chinese medical theory. It contains profound Chinese medical culture and occupies an essential position in traditional Chinese medicine. With its remarkable therapeutic effects, more and more attention has been paid to this therapy in the western world in recent years, which demands more translations of acupuncture-moxibustion texts and thus brings about an upward trend to the study of translations in this field. However,a majority of current studies merely concentrate on the translation of Chinese classics, whose obscure language poses a great challenge to reading. For this reason, the writer selects the book An Easy Reader on Acupuncture-Moxibustion Therapy(Jian Yi Zhen Jiu Liao Fa)by Ge Shuhan,Liao Wei and Ge Jikui as the source text. This book enters the China Book International Project and with its simple language and practical contents,it is suitable for grass-roots medical staff and beginners to learn and refer to.This translation task is based on eco-translatology proposed by Hu Gengshen, according to which, translational eco-environment is a set of factors that can affect and restrict a translation activity. When a text is translated to a new translational eco-environment,the translator has to make appropriate adjustments to enable the target text to adapt to the new environment.Under the guidance of this theory, the translator has translated three chapters extracted from the source text and writes the translation report, which is divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduces background information of the translation task, the translation process and framework of the report. The second chapter analyses characteristics of the source text from linguistic, cultural and communicative perspectives. The third chapter mainly introduces three key concepts of eco-translatology and its applicability to the translation task. The fourth chapter is concrete case analysis, which analyses specific translation methods from linguistic, cultural and communicative dimensions. The fifth chapter concludes the whole report, which mainly involves the enlightenment and shortcomings of this translation practice. With eco-translatology to guide the source text translation, the translator has broadened the eyesight of applying eco-translatology to guide the translation practice, and hopes that some case analysis in this report can provide references for other translators so as to improve translation quality of acupuncture-moxibustion texts.
