This report is based on the translation of the chapter one and two of New China and Old:Personal Recollections and Observations of Thirty Years written by Ven.Arthur E.Moule.Being a missionary in China and having a better knowledge of the Chinese culture,Ven.Arthur E.Moule is an important witness to many Chinese historical events. With special missionary experience in China,Ven.Arthur E.Moule left behind a large number of memoirs about his experience in China. The memoirs are rare historical documents for the studies of the Chinese society at that time in spite of its bias and defects. The two chapters described Moule's thoughts on the potential factors related with the Chinese Empire as a whole after the Taiping upspring in Ningbo and his waterway travel experience to the port city and his life here.Based on the three-dimensional transformation of eco-translatology,this report had teased out languages, culture and interactive sentences involved in the translation process.By means of case analysis.discussions on the process of translation, the report not only reveals that differences on languages and cultures between China and western countries indeed exist, but also reaches the basic view that the three-dimensional transformation theory could be used in the literature translation. In the end,the author of this report also puts forward suggestions on where he should aim when it comes to translation difficulties in the future so as to achieve a better literature translation. This report consists of five chapters:the first part provides the background of the task;the second analyzes preparations for translation;the third part is a short introduction to the details of eco-translatology;in the fourth part, the author focuses on the process of translation and discusses the examples in detail;the last part concludes the experience achieved in the paper and suggestions for the future translation.
