This practice report is based on the author's interpreting practice in Tour of China 2018 from September 8th to 23 rd,2018,where she worked as a liaison interpreter for an international commissaire.The author analyzed difficulties of interpreting,her coping strategies,and demonstrated the construction of her schemata during the practice.The author first introduces Tour of China 2018,the cycling event,and describes her preparation work and on-site interpreting.In particular,the author analyzes the difficulties in interpreting based on some typical cases,including her limited knowledge about the event and specific and complicated working scenarios,and also illustrates the interpreting skills and strategies she has adopted in the on-site interpreting.In addition,when reviewing her performance during the whole practice,the author also realizes the significance of schema,and demonstrates how schemata is constructed and improved in this interpreting practice through case analysis.In the last part,the author reflects on her performance by analyzing feedback from the clients and assessed her performance from the perspective of an interpreter.This practice report summarizes some coping strategies for interpreting for sports events and explores the way of constructing an interpreter's schemata,which could help the author improve her interpreting performance.The author especially hopes that her lessons in constructing schemata could be helpful for other trainee interpreters who will take part in such type of interpreting practice.
