A Practice Report On Interpreting Of Escort And Interview For The U.S Team In The 2017 League Of Legends International College Cup

As an emerging competitive sports project,e-sports has developed rapidly around the world and has created huge output value.With the increasing number of international e-sports events in China,the demand for interpreters has also increased.As an interpreter,it is not only necessary to effectively go through the barriers between Chinese and Western languages ??and cultures,but also to have the adequate understanding of the e-sports field,so as to ensure accurate communication.During the 2017 League of Legends International College Cup held by Wuhan University of Technology,the author served as an escort interpreter of the team from Maryville University of St.Louis in the United States.The interpreter accompanied and guided the team during the entire tour in Wuhan,mainly pre-match media shooting and rehearsal,in-game guidance and coordination and various types of interviews after the match,etc.The case analysis is based on three of interviews,special interview,media interview and interview with the jungler.The report mainly introduces the situation of the interpreting task,explains the background,objectives and requirements,characteristics and clients of the task.And it describes the author’sadvance preparation,including the background knowledge about League of Legends and the glossary,and describes the implementation of interpreting process and its performance evaluation.Then it also includes the case analysis and performance evaluation,which analyze the specific problems encountered in the interpreting and find out coping tactics.Moreover,it summarizes the experience of this interpreting practice,and put up with the problems should be paid attention to.
