Project Report On The Liaison Interpreting For The Events Of "Dialogue With Jim Rogers" 2015

In July,2015, the stock market in China was hit hard and the stockholders’confidence fell off remarkably. Against this backdrop, Guangxi Jiuzhou International Group invited Jim Rogers to dialogue with people in Nanning about economy and fortune.The author was blessed with the chance to be the liaison interpreter for the Events of "Dialogue with Jim Rogers". The overall schedule consisted 3 parts, namely, visiting Jiuzhou International Marketing Center, dining with Guangxi entrepreneurs and attending the evening party in Nanning Marriot Hotel. The author independently completed the whole interpreting task. For the purpose of post-interpretation analysis, the author recorded the activities on her recorder.This report can be divided into task delegating, advance preparation, case studies, coping tactics and post-interpretation evaluation. The author hopes it can contribute somewhat to the study and practice of her fellow interpreters.With the help of relevant theories and analysis, the following conclusions have been drown:firstly, preparation for the task plays a significant role for a smooth interpreting activity; secondly, a liaison interpreter shoulders different responsibilities in varies situations; thirdly, short-term memory is one of the key elements for a successful task. Moreover, preparation for background knowledge can assist the interpreter to overcome challenges cropping out during the interpreting; fourthly, an audience-oriented production can serve the communication better.The contents of this task was diversified and unique, hence it was of great value for analysis and study. The author hopes this paper can provide some reference and enlightenments for her fellow practitioners.
