Objective: By investigating the mental health status,personality distribution characteristics and related factors of middle school students of different groups in Shijiazhuang City,this paper understands the current mental health status of middle school students and its influencing factors,the personality status of high school students and its influencing factors,and the relationship between mental health and personality characteristics,so as to provide guidance,reference and basis for mental health education and intervention for improving the psychological quality of middle school students.Methods: A random cluster stratified sampling method was used to collect 3752 middle school students from Shijiazhuang,Wuji and Lingshou districts of Hebei Province.Questionnaires included the Mental Health Diagnostic Test(MHT),the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ)Adult Edition and the self-designed questionnaire on influencing factors.To establish the database,we decided to use Epidata 3.0 software.In the process of data analyzing,we used the SPSS25.0 statistical software.The statistical methods include chi-square test,descriptive analysis,binomial logistic regression,ordered logistic regression and bivariate correlation.Results:1.Basic information: The total number of respondents in this survey was 3752,of which 1829(48.7%)were junior high school students,1923(51.3%)were senior high school students,1683(45.0%)were boys and 2069(55.0%)were girls.2.Overall mental health status: according to MHT scoring criteria,the mental health status of the total scale is great between 1 and 35 points;the mental health status is good between 36 and 55 points;the mental health status of the people between 56 and 64 points is poor or problematic;the psychological problem tendency of the people with 65 points or more is serious,which needs further analysis and counseling.Among them,1471(42.8%)students scored 1-35 points,1568(45.6%)students scored 36-55 points and 283(8.2%)students scored 56-64 points,118(3.4%)students scored 65 points and above.Among them,2033 were positive for learning anxiety,accounting for 59.1%;290 were positive for human anxiety,accounting for 8.4%;121 were positive for loneliness,accounting for 3.5%;697 were positive for self-blame,accounting for 20.3%;1085 were positive for allergy,accounting for 31.5%;795 were positive for physical symptoms,accounting for 23.1%;253 were positive for fear,accounting for 7.4%;The number of positive persons was 196,accounting for 5.7%.The highest positive rates were learning anxiety,allergic tendency and physical symptoms.3.Influencing factors of positive MHT total scale: students in rural schools have a higher risk of psychological problems with a ratio of 1.832;students with introverted personality have a higher risk of psychological problems with a ratio of 1.747;students with poor adaptability to the new environment have a higher risk of psychological problems with a ratio of 1.746;students with poor relationships with their classmates have psychological problems.The ratio was 1.604,and the students with poor relationship between parents had a higher risk of psychological problems,the ratio was 1.495.4.According to the classification and criteria of the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ)Adult Edition,the number of middle-type students in E,N and P dimensions is the largest.The number of E-dimension intermediate type was 1120(58.2%),117(6.1%)were typical introverts and 196(10.2%)were typical extroverts;1091(56.7%)were typical stable type,235(12.2%)were typical stable type,41(2.1%)were typical unstable type;238(12.4%)were students with P-dimension > 61.5.5.Distribution of four temperament types: 152(7.90%)of 1923 senior high school students with depressive temperament,289(15.03)with biliary temperament,878(45.66%)with mucous temperament and 604(31.41%)with polycythemia temperament.6.The influencing factors of personality dimensions: the people with rich spare time and hobbies,the people with better adaptability to the new environment and the people with better physical health have higher E scores and are more extroverted;the people with poor academic performance,extroverted self-perception,poor physical condition,the people with poor adaptability to the new environment,the people who do not often participate in collective activities have higher N scores.Students with poor family relations and those who do not often take part in physical exercise tend to have high P scores,and their personality characteristics are isolated and indifferent to others.7.The positive rates of self-blame tendency(P < 0.001),allergic tendency(P < 0.001),phobic tendency(P < 0.001),impulsive tendency(P = 0.040)and total scale(P < 0.001)in 2011 and 2009 were significantly different.The positive rates of self-accusation,allergy,terror,impulse and full scale in 2019 were higher than those in 2011.Conclusions:1.The overall mental health of the students in this survey is good,but the positive rates of some MHT subscales are higher,such as learning anxiety and allergic tendency.2.The students in rural schools who have poor relationship with their parents,classmates,poor adaptability to the new environment and with introverted personality have higher risk of psychological problems.3.The characteristics of personality distribution of senior high school students are as follows: the number of middle-type students in E dimension is the largest;the number of middle-type students in N dimension is the largest;and the number of middle-type students in P dimension is the largest in 43.3-56.7 segments.4.The number of high school students with mucinous temperament type was the largest,and the rest were poly-blood temperament,bile temperament and depressive temperament in turn.5.N score,P score was positively correlated with MHT subscale scores;L score,E score was negatively correlated MHT subscale scores.6.Mental health of people with typical introversion,typical instability and high P score is poor.7.The mental health of middle school students in 2019 is worse than that in 2011. |
