The translation practice report is finished under the guidance of Relevance Translation Theory, and its translation material is taken from the first four chapters of Healing Her Heart. This romantic novel written by Laura Scott in May 2013,whose language with a large number of dialogues and descriptive words is vivid and natural. In order to retain the style of the source text,as well as establish the relevance between target readers and the author, the translator applies various translation techniques.Based on Ernst Auguste Gutt's Relevance Translation Theory, this report makes the analysis of typical cases in the first four chapters of Healing Her Heart from two aspects:Cognitive Principle and Communicative Principle.Under Cognitive Principle, the translator applies addition, omission and division. With full consideration of target readers' reading experience, the translator conveys the literal meaning of the source text as accurately as possible,so as to let target readers get the maximal relevance with the translation. And under Communicative Principle, conversion, combination and reconstruction are applied by the translator to convey the author's intentions and emotions to target readers so that target readers can gain the optimal relevance with the author through the translation, that means achieving the effect of resonance between target readers and the author.Through the translation practice, the translator recognizes that it is necessary for translating to develop a deep foundation in language and apply theories properly. In the process of completing the report, the translator has formed a clearer understanding of linguistic features, translation techniques of literary works, and made remarkable progress in translation skills.Figure 0;Table 0;Reference 27.
