The Narrative Strategy Of Xu Tong's "Vagrant Trilogy"

Xu Tong is one of the representatives of Chinese independent documentary film directors,his masterpieces Wheat Harvest,Fortune Teller and Shattered are called"Vagrant Trilogy",which focuses on the bottom of the social revolution,recording sensitive material and,showing Xu Tong's frankness in the real world,and courageBased on the introduction of Xu Tong's "Vagrant Trilogy" and related research,this paper reviews the three documentaries repeatedly and studies the relevant literature,and summarizes the narrative characteristics of the film itself from the aspects of pre-creation preparation,image rendering effect and content supplement separated from the image.The reasons for the formation of the narrative strategy are analyzed from the changes of artistic creation environment,the director's personal experience and the characteristics of the subjects.Xu Tong's unique narrative strategy and the lens language full of humanistic care,what provide more reference for documentary practice and produce a new aesthetic that shows the existence of the subject.Through this study,the author also creates personal work Selling Sister by combining theory with practice,which makes the author have a more in-depth thinking about the narrative strategy of"Vagrant Trilogy".
