Myanmar is one of the important neighboring countries of China and has established and maintained diplomatic relations with China since 1950.With the development and implementation of the Belt and Road initiative,China-Myanmar cooperation has been both deepened and strengthened,and the friendship between China and Myanmar has become more and more profound.Mandarin plays an increasingly important role in building communication and cooperation between China and Myanmar,tying together citizens of both countries in increasingly friendly exchanges,supporting relationships between the two countries.Due to the previous lack of openness in Myanmar,the development of Mandarin in Myanmar has historically also been covered with a mysterious veil.My internship in Myanmar for nearly two years,focused on fourth-grade students,attending the Total Learning Academy Kamayut campus of the TOTAL-BRAINWORKS International School,Yangon.This position was partnered with the Confucius Classroom of the Fuxing Computer Academy in Yangon,Myanmar.My responsibilities were to teach Mandarin and aspects of Chinese culture as well as make an investigation and practical research on Chinese classroom teaching through observed classroom teaching,questionnaire surveys and interviews in the Chinese classroom.It is found that students had poor Chinese reading ability,evade the use of Chinese communication,and weak motivation to learn were the main problems in the Chinese language learning of the students.There were some problems in the teacher's usual teaching process,like neglection of teaching chinese characters,there was no special and targeted oral teaching because of the limitations of class time and other reasons,the teaching method of vocabulary and grammar were single and lacked sufficient practice during the teacher's class.In the view of student's study situation and teacher's teaching problem,I conducted a teaching design and teaching case analysis,put it into practice and invited the school teacher to observe in the classroom.Based on the lecture notes of the teacher who observed my class and the classroom feedback of the students I taught,I performed some teaching techniques and offered some suggestions for Chinese classroom teaching of TOTAL School.The school should create a Chinese classroom environment for students to learn,and select suitable Chinese textbooks for students.Teachers should also pay attention to the teaching of Chinese characters,guide students to master correct learning strategies,and concentrate on teaching.It is hoped that through the joint efforts of teachers and students,the quality of Chinese classroom teaching and the Chinese level of students will be improved.
