A Report On The International Orchid Trade Fair Of Southwestern China

With the development of the Belt and Road Initiative,the China-Europe train has been successfully opened,which provides a good and convenient means of transportation for flower industry of southwestern China.It is also convenient for flowers in southwestern China to arrive in Europe by the China-Europe train.Following the Belt and Road Initiative,the International Orchid Trade Fair of Southwestern China was successfully held.The author provided interpreting service for International Orchid Trade Fair of Southwestern China from March 3,2018 to March 8,2018.During the fair,the author built a language bridge for Chinese Orchid distributors and Dutch dealers.The form of interpreting task was consecutive interpreting.The main topics of the International Orchid Trade fair of Southwestern China involved orchid trade,chemical fertilizer,organic fertilizer and Chinese orchid culture.The author's interpreting performance was influenced by the speaker's illogical sentences,speaker's long discourse pattern,difficult professional vocabulary,and the author's relevant knowledge,thus resulting in failing to grasp the core meaning of the speaker and to achieve ideal interpreting effect.This report is based on deverbalization that is a part of interpretive theory and the case analysis is carried out from three aspects: lexical level,reasonable explanation and omission and reorganization of logical relation,focusing on the problems and difficulties encountered by the author in the process of conference consecutive interpreting.Examples in this report all derive from the author's own transcription of interpreting task.Although there were many difficulties and problems that the author experienced during interpreting task,the author was able to solve some problems through deverbalization.Finally,this report summarizes new findings,limitations,and suggestions for future study and practice of conference consecutive interpreting.Under the guidance of deverbalization,this report summarizes interpreting strategies,namely inductive analysis of themes and reinterpretation of expressions.
