The author uses this material to do English-Chinese (E-C) consecutive interpreting practice and writes a report on this practice. In the first part of the report, a brief introduction will be given to the concept,features and standards of conference interpreting. In the second part, the author will detail the preparations she has made for the conference,including preparations for the background and the terminology. The main body of this report is the third part. Firstly,the author will explain Gile’s Effort Model on Consecutive interpreting followed by a specific analysis on each process of the Effort Model. The author holds that the main effort interpreters make varies in different interpreting circumstances. Hence, the author will explain how the main effort changes when problems show up. The examples will be listed and the corresponding strategies will be proposed by the author. The fourth part focuses on the specific barriers the author has experienced during the interpreting. The author also proposed solutions to those barriers. In the part of conclusion, the author will reflect on the entire conference interpreting process and set forth some strategies in a hope to improve the quality of conference interpreting in the future. |
