The Image Of China In Chokan Valikhanov's Travels

Chokan Valikhanov,an outstanding scholar and enlightenment educator in Kazakhstan,predicted a new era of Russia's awakening of non-Russian national self-consciousness.He longs to understand the history of his own nation and master the cultural wealth,which accumulated by mankind.At the same time,Chokan Valikhanov is still a Russian officer,During his military days,Chokan traveled to western China and completed the travelogue "The Present Situation of Six Cities," "Western Region of the Qing Dynasty and Yining." Chokan's travelogue records East Turkistan's political system,economic development and living customs,etc.It provides a reference for the social science research process and enjoys a good reputation in Russian Oriental culture research.His trip to mountain Tianshan,his visit to mountain Geer,his academic works and folklore research not only made important contributions to the research of Russian Orientalism,but also made great contributions to the study of world Orientalism.This article mainly takes "Western Qing Dynasty and Yining" as the object,carries on the text analysis,discusses the Chinese image in his works,compares the cultural characteristics of the two countries and his harvest during his travels in China.The article is divided into four parts.The introduction introduces the research status of Chokan at home and abroad,to reveal the significance of the research on the base of research background.At the same time,it shows the research method of this paper.The first chapter analyzes Chokan Valikhanov's life story and anecdotes and enters the great man's world outlook and methodology.He studies his spiritual legacy from the perspective of historical materialism.From his writing,he explored his thoughts and Thoughts on people's living habits or their habits and customs,cultural pursuits and social policies brought about by the social machine at that time.The influence of his travels to the political development,culture and national spirit of the ethnic groups in Central Asia was revealed.The second chapter mainly introduces the travels written by Chokan Valikhanov during his residence in Kashgar,and discusses the description and analysis of China's image in Chokan Valikhanov's travels from three aspects: Chinese life,Chinese culture and Chinese women.The third chapter expounds Chokan Valikhanov's cross-cultural thinking from two aspects: the influence of Chinese experience on Chokan Valikhanov and the cross-cultural comparison between China and Kazakhstan.In the conclusion part,we do a deep research on the historical data base of Chokan's works,and then analyze his image in the Kazakhstan people's mind and his influence on Kazakhstan.
