A Research On Female Writer Lin Yining’s Literary Creation In The Qing Dynasty

Lin Yining(1655 – 1730)was an aristocratic poet in the early Qing Dynasty and was also the backbone of the Banana Garden Poetry Society(Jiao Yuan Shi She).She inherited her maternal education since childhood and was influenced by her strong family background.She devoted her entire life to the study of poetry and lyrics as well as the creation of the legendary drama The Story of Hibiscus Canyon,which means she acquired good skills in literary creation.However,the study of Lin Yining,in addition to sporadic mention in the study of the Banana Garden Poetry Society,the existing studies of her literary creation are not deep enough.Therefore,based on collecting related materials and inheriting the previous achievements of the forerunners in this field,this study has made a comprehensive and in-depth research on Lin Yining’s poetry,prose,and composition as well as poetic creation.This paper is divided into seven parts.The introduction part narrates the origin and research value of the topic,and then discusses the history and present status of studies concerning Lin Yining and her works.The main body of the paper consists of other five chapters: The first chapter briefly describes Lin Yining’s life and the social status of her times during the Ming and Qing dynasties.The second chapter examines Lin Yining’s friendships in detail from four aspects: her teachers,her friends,the members of the "Banana Gold Poetry Society" and other related individuals,to explore the changes and development of her personality as well as her thinking.The third chapter discusses Lin Yining’s On Mozhuang’s Poetry comprehensively from the two aspects of ideological content and artistic features,which is the major component of this study.The ideological content of her poetry is mainly reflected in four aspects:expressing love and affection,thoughts on death and life,lyrics composing and friendly-sharing,and concerns of nature.The characteristics of her artistic creation can be discussed in terms of theflexible styles,clear and expressive language,and vivid images.The fourth chapter elaborates Lin Yining’s On Mozhuang’s Essay Writings and summarizes two main aspects: the poetic content and the content of the preface and of death,and the artistic features of emotionally truth and fresh narratives,and the harmonious rhythm in her literary creation.The fifth chapter as the summary part briefly describes Lin Yining’s poetry and unique artistic creation.In the end,the conclusion makes a preliminary evaluation of Lin Yining’s position and literary influence in the history of female literature in China.
