The Gulf of Mexico has a long history and rich natural resources.The readers could know the Gulf better from The Gulf: The Making of an American Sea,and pay more attention to the protection of marine ecological environment.The practice report is based on The Gulf: The Making of an American Sea and the author explores the E-C translation strategies under the guidance of Skopos Theory by analyzing some specific case study.This report is divided into four parts.The first part gives a brief introduction to the translation programme and its significance.The second part mainly introduces the programme arrangement,preparation before translation and proofreading after translation.The third part makes an introduction to the Skopos Theory and analyses the specific cases under the guidance of t his theory.The case analysis mainly probes into the translation of pronouns,personal names and place names,adjectives and adverbs as well as the complex sentences for the accurate expression of the original text and the conformity with the Chinese style.The final part summarizes the problems encountered during the programme as well as the insights and enlightenments gained in this practice.
