The Spatial-Numerical Association of Response Codes(SNARC effect)is that the subjects' left hand reacts quickly to small Numbers while their right hand reacts quickly to large Numbers when judging the size of Numbers. On the basis of previous studies, this study combined visual-audio-channel and negative SNARC effects, discussed the negative SNARC effect in different channels, and compared the differences between single channel and visual-audio-channel.At the same time, the study focused on the negative SNARC effect in different ages, and compared the negative SNARC effects between primary school students, junior school students and college studentsThis study consists of four experiments.Experiment 1 and experiment 2 are two baseline experiments. All the four experimental designs adopted the fast size classification paradigm and presented a number(-9 to 9,minus-5,5 and 0)at a time. The subjects were required to judge the size of the number quickly with-5 as the baseline. The experiment 1 is to study the negative SNARC effect in different ages(primary school group, junior school group and university group)under the visual channel, and to compare whether there is any difference in negative SNARC effect of subjects in different groups under the visual channel. The experiment 2 is to verify the negative SNARC effect in different ages under the auditory channel, and to compare whether there are differences in the negative SNARC effect of subjects in different ages under the auditory channel, and to compare whether there are differences about the negative SNARC effect between visual channel and auditory channelThe experiment 3 is to divide the experimental stimulus under visual-auditory cross-modal perception into consistent situations and inconsistent situations, verify whether there is negative SNARC effect for subjects of different ages, compare whether there is difference in negative SNARC effect under visual-auditory cross-modal perception for subjects of different ages, and compare whether there are differences in negative SNARC effect under visual channel and visual-auditory cross-modal perception.Experiment 4 also divided the experimental stimulus under the auditory-visual cross-modal perception into consistent situations and inconsistent situations,so as to verify whether subjects of different ages have negative SNARC effect, and then compares whether subjects of different ages have difference in negative SNARC effect under auditory-visual cross-modal perception. Finally, the difference of negative SNARC effect between auditory channel and auditory-visual cross-modal perception is compared, and the difference of negative SNARC effect between cross-modal perception is compared. The results of the study are as follows:(1)In single channel and cross channel, the negative SNARC effect of primary and junior high school students is stronger than that of college students. That is,the negative SNARC effect of primary and junior high school students is more stable than that of college students.(2)The negative SNARC effect under single visual channel is stronger than that under visual-auditory cross-modal perception at different ages.Negative SNARC effect in single auditory channel is stronger than that in auditory-visual cross-modal perception. That is,the negative SNARC effect in single channel is more stable than that in cross channel.(3)The negative SNARC effect in single auditory channel is stronger than that in single visual channel at different ages.Significant negative SNARC effect appeared in the consistent situation with visual-auditory cross-modal perception, while SNARC effect did not appear in the inconsistent situation.Under auditory-visual cross-modal perception, significant negative SNARC effect appears in both consistent and inconsistent situations.Negative SNARC effect under auditory-visual cross-modal perception is stronger than that under visual-auditory cross-modal perception. This means that the negative SNARC effect of hearing is more stable than that in visual.
