On Pre-Interpreting Preparation

From the beginning of human civilization,the diversity of languages has brought the need of communication between different languages,and interpreting is one of the bridges for communication.Nowadays,with the rapid development of interpreting,more and more experts and scholars pay attention to this field.However,most of them just focus on the skills or ways of interpreting,little attention is given to pre-interpreting preparation.This report is based on a consecutive interpreting for the lecture on the overview of Ningxia.Through the analysis of the interpreting practice,the author found some problems such as misinterpreting,missing interpreting,redundancy and disfluency in the interpreting process.The basic reason for these problems is that the author does not make a sufficient pre-interpreting preparation.To be specific,he doesn't have a good preparation for technical terms,his cooperation with the speaker is not tacit,and the relevant material analysis is not in place.After the analysis of these problems caused by the insufficient preparations,the author puts forward corresponding solutions to the problems,such as preparation for technical terms,preparation for speaker's speaking style,preparation for relevant texts and efficient note-taking,emphasizes the importance of pre-interpreting preparation in consecutive interpreting,and provides suggestions on how to improve the quality of pre-interpreting preparation and reference for other interpreters.
