The report is based on the translation of Global Football Development Vol.1,which was issued by FIFA(Federation Internationale de Football Association)and CIES(International Centre for Sports Studies,Switzerland)in 2016.Global Football Development is a general report on international youth football development.With a lot of detailed and successful cases,Global Football Development can provide professional experience and guidance for the development of youth football in China.In accordance with Text Typology put forward by German translation theorist Katharina Reiss,Global Football Development falls into the category of informative text which in her point of view defines corresponding translating methods.During his translation,the translator is supposed to showcase the content of the source text precisely and integrally.To achieve that purpose,the translator adopted different tactics to ensure the faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance,which are regarded as the most important eriterions for good translation.In Part One,background information was introduced.In Part Two,this report analyzed major issues and difficulties encountered in the translating process lexically and syntactically.To be specific,at the lexical level,regarding terminologies,abbreviations and predicates,the author used contextual,conventional,collocation-based,foreignizing and parallel text-based methods to deal with the:n.At the syntactical level,translation strategies such as division and inversion were employed to work out correlative conundrums.Finally,the author summed up experience of doing and writing this translation project and provided some practical suggestions.
