This paper takes Singapore in the 20 th century as an example,and uses the exa mination system as an entry point to analyze the historical evolution of the Chinese la nguage examination in Singapore and the reasons for the changes in the Chinese lang uage examination.To explore the influence of the policies and examination methods re lated to the examination system on Chinese language education.This influence is main ly manifested in the learners ’choice of school and their mastery of basic Chinese lan guage skills.Then combining the theories of general pedagogy and sociolinguistics,thi s paper analyzes the causes of this influence,in order to bring some enlightenment to the education of Chinese in multilingual countries and the international promotion of Chinese in China.The text of this article mainly includes four chapters.The first chapter briefly des cribes the evolution of the Singapore examination system.It divides the Chinese langu age education in Singapore in the 20 th century into four stages: initial,perfect,stereot yped,and development.It elaborates on the types of Chinese examinations at various stages;It also analyzes the international environmental,economic,political and cultural reasons for the changes in the examination.Finally,the present situation of Chinese education in Singapore is briefly introduced.In the second chapter,the author first introduces the "bilingual policy",the governmen t subsidy policy,the system of study,and the civil service examination system related to the Chinese language examination.Then the paper expounds the effect of these po licies on learners ’choice of school,and then analyzes the reasons for the impact base d on specific policies.The third chapter analyzes the changes in the examination methods in Singapore.It mainly compares the Chinese examinations after 1979 and after 1991 in the examin ation questions,the proportion of each question type,and the content of the examinati on.Then the influence of test paper setting on learners to master basic Chinese langu age skills is further analyzed.Based on the validity of the test,reliability,distinction and examination method,this paper analyzes the causes of impact.The fourth chapter mainly expounds the enlightenment of the development of mul tilingual Chinese education through the study of Xinjiapi.
