| “Lead-in” refers to a behavior that a teacher designs some activities to guide his or her students to learn actively by some ways at the beginning of a new course,which is an warming-up activity in the process of English teaching in order to appeal to students’ attention and interests as soon as possible.Senior one students who have just experienced the transition of the junior high school to senior high school now are facing a new environment and new challenge,learning pressure following with them.It is necessary for an English teacher to skillfully design a lead-in link in advance in order to use original knowledge to lead to new knowledge effectively,strengthen the interaction between teacher and student in class,and cultivate students’ interests in learning English,and even offer a good help for students’ follow-up study.In addition,to some extent lead-in activity can reduce students’ learning anxiety.This paper is based on an investigation about lead-in link in a senior high school in Nanchang city.The author mainly adopts such approaches as classroom observation and questionnaires during the investigation.As a result,the author finds that majority of senior one students like lead-in link in classroom English teaching,but many problems exist in English teaching: the methods of lead-in design are not diversified;lead-in design is not proper;even a few teachers don’t design a lead-in link at the beginning.In order to deal with the above problems,the author proposes relevant suggestions: firstly,a teacher ought to face lead-in link in a good attitude and acknowledge its importance to a new lesson;secondly,a teacher should flexibly use various lead-in methods and should be bold to try new teaching ways;lastly,it is essential to optimize lead-in design to ensure the efficiency of a whole class of English teaching. |
