"A good beginning is a half of success. " Lead-in part is not only the first link of English teaching, but also the first impression that an English teacher leaves students. Successful lead-in link of English teaching can reach purposes which teachers and students hope for: arousing the students' attention, triggering the students' interests, initiating the students' intentions, enlightening the students' thoughts in English. They can lay an ambush and foreshadows for learning new contents smoothly. Successful lead-in link can not only make teachers and students get into circumstances of English teaching in a better state and improve students' spoken English and also enhance the efficiency of English teaching.But most English teachers are busy considering how to explain knowledge and neglect thoughts of lead-in part in English teaching and design of introduction remarks, so introducing results are unsatisfactory. In order to know lead-in link of English teaching well in higher vocational colleges, try to find out the crux of the problems and take effective measures, the paper makes a research and analysis to some English teachers, who are on jobs specializing in master degree in curriculum & instruction (English teaching) in East China Normal University, and some English teachers and students in Vocational Technology College by using the methods of data analysis, inquiry interview and questionnaire. Then the writer explores issues existed and the related causes of issues and puts forward some advice of lead-in link of English teaching in the higher vocational college according to the results of analysis.This thesis consists of six chapters:In chapter1, the author expounds the neglected phenomenon of lead-in link in English teaching in the higher vocational education, puts forward the theoretical and practical significance of lead-in link in English teaching in the higher vocational education on the basis of analysis of its current situations.Chapter2 is the part of the review of lead-in link in English teaching. In this chapter, the author analyzes and concludes the meaning, significance, principles, requirements, functions, techniques and different kinds of methods of lead-in link in English teaching.In chapter 3, the author discusses the theoretical foundationof lead-in link in English teaching and puts forward"student-centered" ideas on humanism & constructivism, whichare regarded as theoretical foundation of lead-in link in Englishteaching. Chapter 4 is the part of survey and analysis of lead-in link in English teaching. The author makes an investigation on lead-in link in English teaching, and analyzes investigation results by means of classroom observations, questionnaire and interview.In chapter 5 it mainly explores the problems and the related causes of lead-in link in English teaching. In this chapter, the author finds out the main problems existed in it and analyzes the related causes by investigation results.Chapter 6 is the part of conclusion and advice. The author finally draws the research conclusion and puts forward some reasonable proposals on teachers, students, teaching materials and methods and E-learning according to the results of research.
