This study is intended to reveal the problems senior high school students have in listening practice and put forward a practical and productive solution to improving the effect of English listening teaching in senior high school.A questionnaire has been designed to survey the current situation in listening teaching and learning,the collected data of which indicates that there are four factors influencing students'listening comprehension,namely inadequate knowledge language,lack of listening skills and emotion factors such as worry and anxiety.Meanwhile,in teaching process,beacause of the pressure from the college entrance examination,the practice time teachers allocate in listening teaching is insufficient.Besides,both the listening materials in text book and the traditional listening practice model are out of date.As a consequence,it's easy for students to lose interest in listening practice.To combat the problems found in the survey,the present author proposes an innovative teaching method involving the application of "Three-Dimension" Language Sense Methodology to listening teaching at senior high school.Moreover,a comparative experiment is conducted to verify the validity of this teaching method..The experiment lasted 18weeks,during which "Three-Dimension" Language Sense Methodology is applied to English listening practice in the experiment class and the traditional teaching model is continued in control class.Through synchronic comparison between the experiment class and the control class,the data collected form the pre-experiment and post-experiment tests reveal that the experiment class scores higher than the control class.In addition,the comparison of scores of writing in the pre-test and post-test show that not only has“Three-Dimension" Language Sense Methodology promote students' listening comprehension ability but also make some contributions to improving students' comprehensive language skills.In conclusion,the validity of "Three-Dimension" Language Sense Methodology is verified.This thesis consists of six chapters.Chapter one is an introduction.It points out the importance of English listening teaching and the purpose as well as the significance of this survey.Chapter two is theoretical basis.It first introduces the theories related to listening teaching and then the theoretical basis of“Three-Dimension" Language Sense Methodology.At last,it gives a survey of the studies about English listening teaching made at home and abroad.Chapter three is about the questionnaire survey conducted before the experiment.In this chapter,the survey results are analysed to reflect the current situation in listening teaching and learning.Chapter four elaborates "Three-Dimension" Language Sense Methodology by introducing the teaching orientation,teaching materials,basic teaching form and a teaching example of "Three-Dimension" Language Sense Methodology.Chapter five records the whole process of the comparative experiment,including the aim,subjects,methods,the process and the analysis of the data collected from the experiment.Chapter six states the reflection and enlightenment after the experiment.
