Grammar is one of the basic knowledge of English that the students should learn and master at the stage of compulsory education,which is pointed out in English Curriculum Standard for Compulsory Education(2011).Grammar is the basis of language application.Junior high school English teachers spend a lot of time teaching grammar knowledge,but the effect is always not obvious.Many teachers are exploring how to use new methods to teach grammar in order to improve the students' grammar cognition and application level.Mind Map,as a new English learning tool,has been widely used in the teaching of English vocabulary,reading and writing.It is generally believed that mind map can help the students improve their interest in learning and cultivate their thinking ability.Therefore,it is worth discussing whether the application of mind map in English grammar teaching can help the students grasp grammar knowledge and use grammar knowledge better.In this study,56 students from Class 6,Grade 8 and 12 teachers in No.16 Middle School of Zhengzhou were selected as the subjects.A semester teaching experiment was conducted and questionnaires,interviews and tests were used to solve the following two questions: What is the current situation of using Mind Map in English grammar teaching in junior high school? What effects on the students' English grammar learning when applying Mind Map to English grammar teaching in junior high school?After data collection and data analysis,it is found that most teachers are in favor of applying mind map to English grammar teaching,and they also realize that the application of mind map can stimulate the students' interest in learning English grammar.However,under the pressure of heavy teaching tasks,they feel that designing and drawing mind map is time-consuming and laborious,so they less use mind map to teach English grammar.After applying mind map to English grammar teaching,teaching methods of drawing mind map and leading the students to use mind map can help improve the students' interest in learning grammar and help the student master grammar knowledge systematically,and thus improve the students' efficiency of learning grammar.
