At the end of the 19 th century and the beginning of the 20 th century,China was in a turbulent era.With the continuous development of social economy,politics,and culture,China's music education was also speeding forward.In a short period of more than 100 years,the music education discipline in our country has taken its essence from the ancient music education thoughts,absorbed the knowledge of Western music theory,completed the transformation of modern music education,which laid a solid foundation for the construction of the discipline system of music education with Chinese characteristics.The music educator ChenZhongzi went to Japan to study in the early 20 th century.After his success in learning,he resolutely devoted himself to the cause of Chinese music education.After returning home,he was employed by Peking University as a tutor of the Peking University Music Research Association and was a member of the Music Education Committee for Jiangxi Province,China Beauty Education Association,etc.As well as serving as a national language,history,and music teacher in Nanchang,Ganzhou,and other places,He contributed his own strength to cultivate outstanding music talents.In the writing of music theory,the textbooks written by ChenZhongzi,the compiled foreign language literature,and the collection and creation of songs all won favorable comment at the time.However,in the history of Chinese music development,due to various objective factors,ChenZhongzi did not deserved concern and attention.In the existing research results,only small amount of his musical behavior was mentioned and there was no systematic study.This article takes Chinese music educator ChenZhongzi as the research object,and uses literature tracking and interview investigation methods to analyze and discuss his music creation,music theory,music education,and music thoughts.It reflects the arduous start of Chinese music education and new music clubs in the early 20 th century to the mature historical process.This article is divided into four parts: the first chapter is the life history and academic achievements,which elaborates ChenZhongzi's life trajectory and music contribution.Music contribution mainly in three aspects as the compilation of teaching materials,music creation and foreign documents compiled;The second chapter is the study of music theory and teaching activities,which expounds the main theoretical writings and music education,and analyzes the origin and performance of ChenZhongzi's music education thoughts;The third chapter is the main aspects of music thought,which introduces,analyzes the summarizes the teaching materials and literary theory compiled by ChenZhongzi;The fourth chapter is the historical evaluation and contemporary enlightenment,which evaluates ChenZhongzi in history,and discusses ChenZhongzi's influence on later generations and the enlightenment obtained from him.
