This report is an E-C translation of Malcolm Bradbury's Stepping Westward. This is a very funny work.Bradbury used ironic tone to expose corruption of social morality, the pursuit of material enjoyment, the fatal weakness of intellectuals, and the decline in the quality of education. In order to describe the historical picture of the post-war British society,Bradbury used it as a microcosm of society by expressing changes in the social transition period of the intellectual world. The hero,James Walker,is a contemporary British novelist. The novel used the experience of Walker and American professor Froelich to ridicule the cultural bias between honest Englishmen and slippery Americans. The translation practice report is divided into four parts, including translation task introduction, translation process description, translation case analysis and translation practice summary.Through the translation practice of the book one of Stepping Westward, the translator mainly writes the practice report from three aspects:translation of idioms and culturally-loaded words, translation of complex sentences and the translation of the character dialogue language. This report mainly adopts the translation of literal translation and interpretation, word order adjustment and splitting. In this translation practice, the translator has found her own shortcomings, and her understanding of English literature needs to be improved. At the same time, this practice is also a translation training and accumulation of knowledge.
