The global economy is constantly developing, and China has also experienced rapid development in recent years, especially in science and technology. As the desire for cross-cultural communication in various countries becomes stronger and stronger, the demand for the translation market is also growing. It is not only a verbal exchange, but also some large translation projects still need to be resolved. And these translation projects can't just be satisfied by inefficient human translation,so they turn their attention to machine translation. The rapid development of science and technology in China and the demand for the translation market have driven the development of machine translation. At present, people use machine translation mainly by means of human-assisted translation and machine-assisted translation.Among them,human-assisted machine translation refers to the machine plays the main translation function, and the translator post-edited the translation produced by the machine.Post-editing plays an irreplaceable role in improving the quality of machine translation.Through this translation practice, the author summarizes some common errors types of machine translation and gives corresponding post-editing solutions. As a student majoring in economic and trade translation, the author translated several chapters of the book Sports' Contribution to Economy and Employment in the EU with Google translation engine and edited the MT translation with Trados. It is intended to promote the author's PE(post editing)skills in the translation of this project while promoting the knowledge about sports' contribution to economy and employment in the EU.Based on this translation project, the author suggested that translators should edit MT translation from lexical, syntactic and discourse level. At the lexical level, mistranslation is the most frequent error, and the translator should take context and disciplinary knowledge into consideration in order to finalize the translation of a certain word.At the syntactic level, the pretermission of relatives is the most common error, and accordingly the translator should conform to the target language and add some meaning within the context so as to make the translation more accurate. At the discourse level, semantic redundancy has been the biggest problem, and the translator should try to streamline the translation without changing the meaning of the original text.Through this translation practice, the author hopes to reach the following goals.First, she hopes to improve her translation skills, accumulate more experiences in the use of CAT(computer aided tools),and learn more about the features of economic research text.Second, she hopes to help translators who need to handle similar translation texts by providing practical translation skills and TB summarized by the author herself.Third, the author hopes that this translation practice can offer insight for translators to improve the efficiency of post-translation editing in similar translation texts.
