| Constructing the students’ core competence system is the key in deepening the curriculum reform.The English core competence consists of four parts: language ability,thinking quality,cultural awareness and learning ability.The English subject core competence put forward a clear requirement for English learning,moreover,it can be infiltrated into the curriculum and become the basis of curriculum evaluation.According to the current situation of English teaching,teachers should not only impart knowledge to students,but also cultivate their core qualities to form perfect personality.Therefore,how to carry out the requirements of English core competence has become a challenging task for middle school English education.273 senior high school students and 50 senior high school English teachers in Tongliao were selected as subjects for questionnaire and interview in this study,to which investigates the current situation and existing problems of students’ English core competence cultivation in senior high schools.Based on the data collected,the following problems has been found in the process of English teaching.The language competence of the students is deficient,the cultural consciousness is weak,and the thinking and learning ability needs to be further improved.Because the teachers and students are not familiar with the English core competence and they can not attach great importance to it,coupled with the constraints and pressures of the college entrance examination,the students have failed achieving the requirements in all aspects of the English core competence.By summarizing the result of questionnaires and interviews,this paper puts forward a series of solutions of how to train the students’ core competence in terms of the teacher training,the change of the teaching concept and the improvement of the teaching methods and teaching environment. |
