A Report On The Interpreting For A Visit To The Five Fairy Ladies Peaks

With the trend of economic globalization,communication between countries become more frequent,and tourism industry has developed fast in turn.China has attracted more foreign tourists and thus more proficient interpreters are needed to meet the increasing demand of the market.To plays the important role asa cultural bridge during the process of interpreting,the interpreter shouldknow the cultural differences between China and western countries to succeed in interpreting the guide's introduction and help the foreigners understand Chinese sceneries and the culture behind them.In this process,the interpreter must overcome the difficulties arising for the differences between the cultures of China and the western countries.In the author's two days' interpreting,some interpretation methods are used in the guide interpretation including literal interpretation,omission,amplification,interpretation of four-charter pattern.This report is based the interpreting the author performed when she was in an internship program as a guide interpreter.During the process,the author accompanied a foreign visitor to various scenic spots and historical relics.Taking one tour with an English visitor to the Five Fairy Ladies Peaks as a case to study,this report focused on the whole guide interpreting process starting from the pre-task preparation to the post-task case analysis.Based on the analysis of the author's interpreting practice,this report proposes proper related methods and skills for escort interpreting.The purpose and meaning of this report is to analyze the problems in the process of interpretation and combine the interpretingtheories with practice through the real interpreting case so as to improve the ability both in theories and practice.It is also expected that this report can give others interpreterssome help in deepening the understanding of the interpreting theories and in enhancing their interpreting skills.
