In recent years,more and more students choose to learn Chinese in Mauritius,and the Hanban of China also sends more Chinese teacher volunteers to Mauritius for Chinese teaching each year.With the rapid development of Chinese teaching in Mauritius,Chinese teacher volunteers also encounter some problems in teaching Chinese and cross-cultural communication when they go to Mauritius for Chinese teaching.As most of the Chinese teacher volunteers served a term of only one year,after that,when they just adapt to the pace of work in Mauritius and get familiar with the students as well as teaching conditions,then they face with returning to China after finishing their term of work,As a result,the resources of teachers are greatly wasted.By carefully thinking and summarizing,combining with the practical experience of Chinese teaching in Mauritius in 2018,this paper taking St Therese RCA as an example introduces and analysis the problems in Chinese teaching in Mauritius,and also try to provide the suggestions and strategies.It is hoped that it can help the Chinese teacher volunteers who have just arrived in Mauritius to understand and adapt to the teaching environment and cross-cultural communication habits of Mauritius as soon as possible.In Chinese teaching,that the author find that the problems caused by the inappropriate teaching methods which is due to the lack of understanding of Mauritius teaching situation and cultural customs.In addition,the Chinese textbook and the Chinese examination is not corresponding,it is difficult to coordinate the use of Chinese textbook with the exam-oriented teaching.Finally,intercultural communication adaptation in Chinese teaching is also a key factor affecting the smooth progress of Chinese volunteers'teaching and work.Without adapting to the working mode and cultural customs in Mauritius,Chinese teaching will also be affected.In this paper,the suggestions to Chinese volunteer teachers are as follows:first of all,on the teaching methods,the choice of teaching language should be given priority to Chinese and other languages is complementary(English,French or Mauritius Creole),to avoid boring teaching,it is necessary to use multimedia teaching equipment,in order to give vivid teaching,improving students' learning efficiency,and at the same time get a good control of the class management,adhering to the principle of class management,as well as to create a good class environment.Secondly,of the Chinese textbook use and the Chinese exam,it is suggested that to give teachers'subjective initiative into full play actively,while delete old and not commonly used vocabulary,then,appropriately increase the content of culture course,and reasonably arrange the grammar teaching order,and according to the requirements of the exam,appropriately adjust and adapt the homework sets.Also,through the guidance and training of examination skills,in order to coordinate the inharmoniousness of the textbook content and exam content.Finally,in terms of the volunteer work of Chinese teachers,it is suggested that to actively coordinate with the students,parents and the school to deal with all kinds of conflicts,while obey the reasonable work arrangement of the school,as well as to adapt the culture and teaching in foreign country,while completing the volunteer work successfully.
