The cultural competence is one of the most important aims of teaching Chinese as a second language. But the teachers and researchers have not reached an agreement on some basic points till now, including the definition of culture in teaching Chinese as a second language, the standard or criteria we should follow in culture items' choosing, the integration of culture and language in language teaching process, which leads to the dissatisfactory result of language teaching. My research starts with the exploration of the definition of culture in second language teaching and then the process of the language communication. After that I tried to make a framework for the survey of culture need analysis as the way to explore the culture items in language teaching. Lastly I tried to integrate all the references I found through culture need analysis in the communication process into the communication tasks as the final solution to the integration of language and culture, which focuses both on language forms, notions and functions and inter-culture communication at the same time. |
