A Research On The Theme Of Time In Chekhov’s Novels

Chekhov,standing in the ranks of great writers in the nineteenth century,is independent.The study of Chekhov’s novels has been in the ascendant for many years.Since 1907,Chekhov’s novels have been translated and introduced to China.Since then,many famous translators have systematically translated Chekhov’s works,and the research on Chekhov’s works has gradually emerged.By the 1990 s,Chekhov’s research had entered a prosperous period,and a large number of research papers appeared.Throughout academic research on Chekhov’s novels,it can be roughly divided into translation studies,novel writing techniques,characters in stories,philosophical studies of novel implications and comparative studies of writers and works.Chekhov’s novel creation can be roughly divided into three periods: 1879-1886,1886-1890,1890-1904.In view of Chekhov’s extensive thoughts,the author intends to discuss the ideological crystallization of Chekhov’s articles from the perspective of time,so that readers can perspective Chekhov’s novels from another angle and deepen their understanding of the literary environment and the current situation of Russian society at that time.After in-depth reading of Chekhov’s novels,the author takes his view of time as the breakthrough point and divides the themes of time into two categories: time cycle and infinite extension of time.Time cycle refers to life in a state of constant,repeated,showing a circular pattern.The infinite extension of time means that life is endless,hopeless and insensitive to its current situation.The human beings living on the time axis have different life performances.This paper explores the characteristics of Chekhov’s creation from the personal understanding and existential state of the characters in the novel.Chekhov’s sensitivity to time can be attributed to both external and internal factors.His acuity is different from ordinary people.The author tries to explore the causes from two aspects and try to approach the era of dialogue with the author.At that time,the abolition of serfdom,related legal changes and like-minded friends in the literary arena,as well as physicians with serious illnesses,had influence on Chekhov’s thinking about time in life to a certain extent.The thought of these stars links into a line and becomes the shining point of Chekhov’s thought,which provides philosophical nourishment for later generations.The author combs the focus of the time theme and makes an analysis in combination with Bergson,Husserl,Heidegger and Sartre’s philosophy of time in order to explore the significance of Chekhov’s concept of time to future generations,thinking about the philosophy of Chekhov’s concept of time on modern life.
