The external research focusing on the substantial relationship must be integrated with the internal study focusing on the value relationship. Only in this way can we make more profound comparison between Lu Xun & Chekhov's creative ideas and art of novels. In fact, either Lu Xun's or Chekhov's philosophical consciousness of the subject, aesthetic concepts and creative skills should be regarded as an integrated system. The core of Lu Xun's subjective philosophy is Evolution spirit, the theme of which is desperation resistance; while the core of Chekhov's subjective philosophy is life ethics, the theme of which is mediocrity avoidance. Because of these two kinds of subject philosophy are obviously different on the one hand, while mutually linked in a delicate way on the other hand, when Lu Xun or Chekhov takes a poetic view of the external scene, each of them forms their own perspectives. Lu Xun's perspective is based on historic dimensions, while Chekhov's perspective concentrates on life latitudes. Because there is a necessary compatibility between Lu Xun and Chekhov in their philosophical qualities and aesthetic characteristics, Lu Xun was once greatly influenced by Chekhov in the light of novel poetics. Although both of them have adopted an open, complex realistic method in novel creation, the content and style of their creative skills are diversified.
