With the prosperity and growth of China's economy,China's position also has gradually got better in the international arena.At the same time,China has actively strengthened cooperation with the five Central Asian countries.Turkmenistan is no exception.Against this background more and more foreign students would like to study Chinese language,so the Chinese government stimulates foreign students from every corner of the globe to refine understanding of Chinese culture,traditions,customs,gain experience of Chinese life,study Chinese language;domestic colleges and universities offer courses of learning Chinese language like a major.Foreign students' numbers from Turkmenistan are also increasing day by day.In order to spread Chinese culture among the foreign students,China organizes different events,establish search center,such as the center of Turkmenistan at Xi'an Shiyou University.However,foreign students are faced with many difficulties in learning Chinese,for instance,language communication,reading,grammar and other issues.Because China has recently began to attract foreign students,teaching methods have some gaps,and the learning process also has some problems that restrict and block the improvement of Chinese language level and abilities,thus weakening the motivation of Chinese language learning,and sometimes the students even lose interest.Therefore,we need to study the motivation of Chinese language learning in Xi'an Universities as an example.The author uses the literature research method,observe method,questionnaire survey method,quantitative analysis method and experience summary method,and through visiting the classroom,questionnaire survey and interview and other means research the Chinese learning motivation of Turkmenistan students in Xi'an Universities,the factors that impact on Chinese learning motivation,the main problems during learning Chinese like Chinese speaking,writing,reading,etc.Finally,author brings up appropriate opinion and measures: how to improve Chinese motivation and what new teaching methods can help to study Chinese.The author bases on the relevant motivation theories,socio-psychological and scientific works,personal experience,questionnaires and interview results.
