This thesis analyses the Chinese proficiency of students at Rajabhat University,Ubon Ratchathani,Thailand.It compares and contrasts how their language errors in writing have been replaced with more grammatical sentences in writing after they have came to study in a university in China.This thesis categories the changes into three types.Firstly,this thesis scrutinize the Chinese character writing errors that includes the error of using a homonym,phonogram errors,echoism and mistakenly and creation of wrong Chinese character.Secondly,the thesis presents three types of errors in the use of vocabulary that includes the errors that need to be corrected,the errors that do not need to be corrected and can be understood by natives,and the mixture of the first and the second type.Thirdly,this thesis portrays the students' grammatical errors that include incomplete and redundant sentence components,word order errors and correlative errors.This thesis furthermore attempts to analyses the specific causes of errors in four aspects.Firstly,this thesis analyses a direct transfer of students' mother tongue to Chinese as a targeted language.Secondly,this thesis looks at the direct transfer of knowledge from students' mother tongue to Chinese as their target language.Thirdly,this thesis explains how students' individual factors and language learning environment affect their everyday use of Chinese.Finally,this thesis proposes recommendation of how to help improve students' language proficiency.In learning Chinese characters,attention should be paid at the words that are most frequently used both in speaking and writing.Next,this thesis proposes that the method of Chinese character constructio be employed in the teaching strategy.Moreover,it is worth paying attention at students' individual differences.This helps strengthen students' individual technique in writing and memorizing Chinese characters.In terms of vocabulary teaching,it is suggested to pay attention at the combination of teaching and contrastive analysis of similar words.In classroom,teachers should pay attention to classroom language.Finally,teachers should sufficiently use multimedia when teaching to increase students' ability to understand better Chinese.It also helps attract students' attention and makes the environment in classroom more relaxing but not too easy.
